Article 1, Section 5 of the US Constitution
Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns
and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each
shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller
Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized
to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such
Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings,
punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the
Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and
from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as
may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays
of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the
Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.
Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without
the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor
to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be
sitting.
If the liberal Democrats are elected in droves this year to Congress, comprising a super majority, they
can re-write the rules for conduct to their choosing. Once they have rewritten the
rules, they can begin to enforce these rules on those who do not fit in
their agenda. They, with 2/3 of a majority or more, may expel members of congress.
What does this mean, and why is it so imporrtant?
They will have the power to expel any republican
or independent from their respective house, for any reason. The super majority (the democrats) write the rules or change the rules, they enforce the rules. They pass said rules because they have
a super majority in congress. They enforce said rules.
If that member just happens to come from a state that has a liberal democrat as its Governor, said Governor has the authority to appoint to his/her choosing a replacement until time of election for a the vacant seat, by the people.
Now, if a Democratic President is elected, and if the unfortunate should happen and two of the supreme court justices
pass away or retire, they along with a democratic president could appoint, for
life, liberals sympathetic to their cause; to uphold the
constitutionality of the expulsion of said members of congress, due to
the constitutionality of the rules written by and approved by the vast
majority of congress.
The original intent by the founding fathers was not to have a single party system in the government. They didn't even intend to have a system with two parties as the majority. It was, at the time, a country with several parties, each as equal as the others. Some may have caucused with others, but there were several non-the-less.
If we look at world history, tyranny begins with a single party system. Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Myanmar, Venezuela, Germany, Italy, Japan, France, England,-Hungary, Prussia, the Ottoman Empire. Need I go on?
This is the United States of America. We are better than this. Today, we have elected leaders running around suggesting that a single party rule would Rule, and that there would be better partisanship of the Democrats have a super majority. Folks, the only thing I see is not bipartisanship, but total dominance of one party; suppressing the voice of the opposition.
Moreover, who really wants to have bipartisanship anyway. It's the single reason why out budget has bloated to 4 1/2 trillion Dollars, but that's a different topic all together...
